Family Stories Millennium Project
The Children's Museum of Portsmouth
we wanted it to be bright and our colors looked like swirls and bursts of color emerging onto the canvas. We were not sure where we were going, but we liked what we were doing
This project was part of a yearlong event sponsered by The Children's Museum of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The Millennium Project was a five part series for seacoast families to participate in. My participation was two weekend workshops to facilitate collage memory heirlooms with the families.
The purpose of the project was to bring together multi-generational family-oriented workshops designed to bring families of all kinds together to reflect on their lives, make art and make memories.
The first weekend we prepared the canvases with paint and the second weekend we collaged our special pieces onto the canvas. The end product was lovely and all the participants were excited to have made such art with their family, together.
Each piece made this year was on display in an exhibit at the Children's Museum of Portsmouth with an opening on November 19, 2001.
