Children's Classes ages 4- 18 years
|
|
All of the children’s classes run from September - May in six week sessions. If you intend to only come for one session please be kind and let us know. We hold people on waiting lists for most of our classes.
Our fine art instruction is based on the creative processes and respect for the individual artists style. We will explore drawing, painting, assemblage, collage, printmaking, sculpture, puppetry, construction, mixed media and more! The students will learn about past and contemporary artists as well as use our gallery for experiential learning. Drawing is included in every class. Positive, nurturing, creative teaching methods in small size class settings allow for the greatest learning to be achieved.
For information on which media we are currently using, please contact Susan. We will begin with painting in September.

| a little about our studio art experiences |
The art academy in Rochester is located inside our galleries. the main gallery and the eQunox gallery. This gives our students an ever-changing direct educational experience with professional artists' work. Because our gallery is committed to all forms of visual art, the variety of work is extensive as well as professional. 20% of the gallery space is dedicated to student work from our school and surrounding community schools. In addition to our classes visiting our gallery on a regular basis, we offer free programs to the local schools.
Our classes for children run September through June. Drawing is the basis of all lessons and learning about artists who have shaped the world is included in all of our classes. We will explore all media including, painting, pottery, sculpture, printmaking, bookmaking, puppetry, claymation, collage and more! Media choices are student driven, subject matter is chosen with emphasis on personal style and interest.
We offer two exhibition opportunities each year for our students. Both are held at the Rochester Public Library - once in the fall and once in the spring. This gives each student the experience of exhibition in a public arena as well as a personal goal for their work. Students are not required to participate, yet are encouraged as part of the fine art process.
The creative process is always the focus at artstream, with the emphasis on developing personal style within a medium and of course, fun!
