Susan Schwake-Larochelle studied fine art / art education at Plymouth State College in the 70’s. For the past three years she has traveled to further her study of modern art in Germany, France and Italy. She had the privilege to attended the Documenta 11 in Kassel, Germany to view the world symposium on Modern art.

Her belief that we are born creative people has driven her educational work over the past ten years. She holds fast the idea that a persons work should be their own as well as nurtured in a process oriented fashion.
She opened a small private art school, academyartworks in 1992 to further the education of the fine arts in the greater Rochester area. In 1996, she opened a second studio location in Dover, NH with five partners in the arts. In 1997 she opened Gallery 111 to help promote emerging and established artists from the New England area. With two partners, Mary Jo Monusky and her husband Rainer Schwake, she opened artstream in April of 2003 to continue to celebrate the work of artists in the area and beyond, as well as nurture young artists in their creative journey.

Her work has been shown and collected around New England and is in private collections across the US and Europe.
