Kris Lanzer
The artwork by Kris Lanzer engages our tactile senses and invites personal introspection. She collects, arranges, and combines natural materials with factory made products by cutting, casting, weaving, wrapping, sewing, and gluing.

This active hands-on approach of art making is generated from several years of child play in the woods, lake, and basement in addition to many years of adult work at a pipe shed, bakery, flower shop, garden center, lab, and school…

Although there is an underlying sense of decay and loss in the work, there is also a sense of hope and possibility that encourages the sudden need to make, to play, and to be in the present.

Lanzer has a MFA degree from the University at Albany, SUNY, and a BFA degree from UNH in Durham. She resides in Dover, works in Portsmouth, and builds sculptures in her studio at the Salmon Falls Mill in Rollinsford.
